Above are lenke wood drums already roughed out, and in various stages of finishing. Geometric carving is added and rope rings are fitted and and cradle rope added. There are always drums in process so each can add their talent along the way.

Lenke and Khadi wood take finish differently.

Khadi has a more distinct grain
(right).

Adding cradle rope.

Using a car block for rounding steel rings        Trimming a skin after tieing in place, tight to the drum body, to dry.

Mahmoud Drame' is the source and private carver for some of the world's top players. His attention to detail in wood selection, playing edge, classic guinea geometric designs, and bowl size, structure, and size relationship to trumpet, make these some of the best soloist drums! The key to his success is quality assurance within a village atmosphere, good materials, and a talented, well paid and happy building team.

Craftsmen apply their skill in chair production.

Guinea is simply lush and beautiful wherever you look!
